Ship Arrival

Scenic Drive to the Sign of the Kiwi & Sign of the Takahe
Depart Lyttelton and travel through the inner bays of Lyttelton Harbour, passing Governors Bay before ascending Dyers Pass, which climbs the rim of an ancient volcanic crater. Stop at the Sign of the Kiwi for panoramic views over the harbour and Christchurch city.
Continue to the Sign of the Takahe, a Scottish-style stone building with a viewing platform offering sweeping vistas of Christchurch, Pegasus Bay, the Canterbury Plains, and the snow-capped Southern Alps. Access to the viewpoint is via a gentle five-minute walk.
Mona Vale Gardens
Travel onward to Mona Vale, a stately historic home surrounded by elegant gardens. Enter through the front gate and enjoy a relaxed stroll through the grounds, following the Avon River that borders the property. Your guide will rejoin you at the rear gate after your exploration.
Christchurch City & Earthquake Rebuild
Continue into central Christchurch, where your guide will explain the city’s history and the dramatic impact of the 2011 earthquake. See both the destruction caused by the natural disaster and the ongoing rebuilding efforts as you pass through the city center and Cathedral Square.
Rakaia Gorge Jet Boat Adventure
Depart Christchurch for Rakaia Gorge, home to one of New Zealand’s famous braided rivers. Here, embark on a thrilling jet boat ride with an experienced driver. Speed across shallow waters, experience sharp turns and exhilarating spins, and feel the rush as the boat performs dramatic 360-degree maneuvers.
As you race through the gorge, take in the striking scenery of scrub-covered hills, towering coal and limestone cliffs, and the magnificent backdrop of the Southern Alps, often capped with snow.
Return to Port
After your adrenaline-filled experience, return to Lyttelton township, where a shuttle transfer will take you back to your cruise ship.
