FULL ITINERARY
Meeting Point - Napier City (via Cruise Shuttle)
Napier is a working port, so cruise guests will take a complimentary shuttle from the port to Napier city, where your professional guide will meet you and begin the tour.
Napier Art Deco District & City Lookout
Explore Napier’s world-famous Art Deco district, home to approximately 140 original 1930s buildings. Drive through the main streets and stop at a city lookout while learning how the city was rebuilt after the 1931 earthquake. Enjoy multiple photo opportunities of iconic architecture and beautifully preserved façades.
Hawke’s Bay Countryside & Wine Region
Leave the city behind and head into the picturesque countryside of Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand’s oldest wine-producing region. Pass orchards, vineyards, and farmland, where you may spot sheep, cattle, alpacas, donkeys, and farmed deer. New Zealand has the world’s largest population of domesticated deer.
Te Mata Peak Lookout
Stop for one of the most scenic photo opportunities of the tour, overlooking the valley with Te Mata Peak rising in the background. Continue towards the peak and pause to enjoy sweeping views across Hawke’s Bay and beyond. Your guide will share the Māori legend of Te Mata Peak, known as the “Sleeping Giant”.
Honey Factory Visit & Tasting
Visit a local honey factory to learn about the many products derived from honey. Sample unique honey varieties, including the world-famous Manuka Honey.
Hastings & Return to Napier
Drive through the Art Deco city of Hastings before returning to Napier. Pass a charming block of well-preserved Art Deco homes on the way back.
At the end of the tour, choose to be returned directly to your ship’s shuttle or spend additional time exploring Napier’s Art Deco city center on foot, catching the return shuttle from the top of the main street.
Return to Picton
Your skipper will happily answer questions throughout the cruise before returning you to Picton in plenty of time to rejoin your cruise ship.
