FULL ITINERARY
Morning
08:00 Ship arrival. Private guide and driver upon pickup from port entrance gate to begin your Hoi An shore excursions. We will transfer from the port to Hoi An Ancient Town in approx. 2 hours.
10:00 We make stop to visit Cam Thanh Coconut Village. Here, we will explore the 7-hectare Bay Mau palm forest by going on a coracle called “Thung Chai” (traditional Vietnamese bamboo basket boat) rowed by professional locals. If lucky, we will get to watch a one-of-a-kind boat show - the round “basket boat dance” performed by fishermen who have special skills to control and sway the boats. Along the ride, immerse yourself in the lush and tranquil scenery of the forest, see the coconut trees on the riverbanks swaying peacefully while hearing interesting stories about how this place was used as a revolutionary base for North Vietnamese soldiers during the war leading to 1975 Vietnam Reunification.
Afternoon
13:00 Arrives in Hoi An Ancient Town, also known as the Lantern City of Vietnam. Enjoy lunch with the finest specialties from this land at a nice restaurant in town.
14:00 After lunch, we start walking around the Old Town to visit:
- Japanese Covered Bridge
- The Pottery Museum
- Tan Ky old house and the Cantonese Congregation
- Hoi An’s Silk Street
Admire the quaint colonial style buildings while learning about Hoi An’s past as a major trading port town in the 16th-17th century.
15:30 Try your hands at making your own lanterns in a family-owned workshop and get to bring your hard-work results home.
