Ship Arrival
Begin your adventure at the pier, where your experienced guide will take you on a 4WD ride to the Pohatu Marine Reserve. There, you’ll receive all the necessary equipment for kayaking. After a brief safety lesson, you'll be ready to launch into the waters and begin your exploration of New Zealand's coastal beauty. Kayaking Through Pohatu Marine Reserve
Enjoy the stunning coastal views as you kayak through the sheltered bay of the Pohatu Marine Reserve, surrounded by towering sea cliffs, rock stacks, reefs, and sea caves that have been shaped by the forces of nature. Your guide will take you to some of the best vantage points, where you’ll get a chance to spot penguins, seal colonies, Hector dolphins, and a variety of sea birds.
Important Notes
- Dress in layers and wear tennis shoes, rubber boots, or sport sandals.
- Bring a change of clothes, food, and drink.
- The tour will operate during light drizzle if the wind is calm.
- Maximum of 8 double kayaks per tour.
- Participants must be at least 8 years old.
- All participants will paddle in double sea kayaks. If there’s an odd number in the group, you will be paired with another guest or a guide.
- Sea kayaking requires moderate physical activity and is not recommended for those with back problems or limited upper body strength.
- All participants must follow the guide’s instructions and adhere to safety requirement
