FULL ITINERARY
Ship Arrival
Meet your guide at Darwin Cruise Port and begin a scenic journey into the Northern Territory’s tropical landscapes. As you travel through the outskirts of Darwin and along remote back roads, your Aboriginal guide will introduce the region’s history, culture, and unique environment. Visitors often discover the natural wonders of the area through carefully designed Darwin shore excursions with Shore Excursions Asia.
Journey to the Finniss River
Your first stop is along the Finniss River, a peaceful riverside location where you can stretch your legs and learn about the natural resources found in this riverine environment. Your guide will explain how Indigenous communities have relied on these resources for thousands of years.
Indigenous Culture and Bush Knowledge
Throughout the journey, your Aboriginal guide will share stories about traditional life, seasonal bush foods, and the deep cultural connection between Indigenous people and the land. You will also learn about the famous termite mounds of the Northern Territory, impressive natural structures that play an important role in the ecosystem.
Bamboo Creek or Tolmer Falls
Depending on seasonal conditions, the tour may visit Bamboo Creek Tin Mine, an important historical site linked to early pioneers and local Indigenous communities. During the tropical wet season, when access is limited, you will instead visit the spectacular Tolmer Falls, where cascading water plunges into deep sandstone chasms surrounded by dramatic cliffs.
Woolaning Spring (Ban Ban Spring) Experience
Before lunch, enjoy exclusive access to Woolaning Spring, located on private Indigenous land belonging to your guide’s family. Relax in this peaceful rainforest setting, enjoy morning tea beside a clear spring-fed stream, and learn about the history of the area including remnants of an old sawmill camp.
Traditional Australian Lunch
A freshly prepared lunch will be served in a beautiful natural setting, featuring uniquely Australian flavors such as wild-caught barramundi, crocodile, and kangaroo, offering a memorable culinary experience of the Northern Territory.
Visit Wangi Falls
After lunch, continue to the iconic Wangi Falls, one of the most famous waterfalls in Litchfield National Park. During the dry season, visitors may swim in the plunge pool, while in the wet season you can enjoy scenic walks and stunning views of the falls surrounded by lush rainforest.
Florence Falls Lookout
Your final stop is the beautiful Florence Falls, viewed from a scenic plateau-top lookout. Those wishing for a closer experience may descend the staircase leading to the refreshing waters of the gorge below, while others can enjoy the surrounding forest walks and spectacular views.
