FULL INITERARY

Begin your exploration of Wakayama with a warm welcome from your English-speaking guide at the cruise port, then relax aboard a comfortable private coach as you set off to discover the region’s cultural treasures.

Your first stop is Awashima Shrine, a spiritually significant place known as the birthplace of Hina Matsuri, Japan’s traditional festival celebrating girls. The shrine is renowned for its striking collection of hina dolls, respectfully displayed as offerings for health, happiness, and protection. This atmospheric setting offers both cultural insight and unforgettable photo opportunities, reflecting Japan’s long-standing reverence for women and family.

Next, visit Wakayama Castle, a beautifully reconstructed hilltop fortress overlooking the city. Stroll through the surrounding parklands, admire seasonal landscapes, and, if you wish, climb to the main keep for sweeping views. The site offers a wonderful blend of history, nature, and quiet elegance-particularly during cherry blossom or autumn foliage seasons.

Conclude your cultural journey at Itakiso Shrine, a serene and lesser-known sanctuary dedicated to the deity of trees and forests. Nestled among greenery, the shrine invites peaceful reflection and provides insight into Japan’s deep-rooted spiritual connection to nature through Shinto traditions.

After a day filled with heritage, natural beauty, and cultural discovery, return to Wakayama Port in comfort and on time. Your guide ensures a smooth and timely transfer, leaving you with meaningful memories of this tranquil and enriching excursion. Thank you for exploring with Shore Excursions Asia!
