Cultural City of Kamakura

Encounter Japan's history, its sacred sites, and Japan’s unique culture by admiring the giant bronze Buddha statue at the Great Buddha Daibutsu, the war god Hanchiman at the most significant temple in Kamakura - Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, followed by relaxing time in Komachi Dori's streets with their abundance of incredible coffee shops, long-established restaurants, and souvenirs shops.

Upon arrival in Tokyo port, you will be welcome by our local guide and driver. We then start our trip by the first visit to Kotokuin Temple and see the Great Buddha Daibutsu. Completed in 1252, the giant statue is the highlight of the temple and completely cast in bronze with a height of 13.35 meters (about 33 feet) and a weight of approximately 850 tonnes. Seated in the meditative position, this is the second highest bronze Buddha statue in Japan that remains the most popular figurehead for Japanese Buddhists.

Next, we will visit Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, the most important shrine in Kamakura which was founded in 1063 by Minamoto Yoriyoshi and dedicated to Hanchiman, the god of Minamoto family, also regarded as the god of war. That created a unique and different in the atmosphere of this shrine to the other Zen temples.

We then leave the shrine to stroll down the streets in Komachi-Dori with full options of shopping, amazing coffee shops, long-established restaurants and shop where you can hunt for local products as souvenirs before back to the port. Trip ends.
