Ship Arrival
Upon arrival at Wellington cruise port, meet your guide and shuttle to the Remutaka Rail Trail, one of New Zealand’s most scenic and historic cycling routes. Choose Your Route
The journey starts with a shuttle to either Maymorn (a more challenging 25-35 km route) or Kaitoke (a gentler 18-28 km option). No matter which route you choose, you’ll be treated to stunning views and gradual climbs through New Zealand’s lush native bush.
Cycling Adventure
As you ride, pass through historic tunnels (with provided headlights) and cross picturesque bridges. Informational boards along the trail highlight the craftsmanship of the old fell railway system.
Summit and Picnic Break
The highlight of the tour is reaching the summit-an expansive grassy plateau, perfect for a break, picnic, or refreshing drink.
Scenic Descent & Cross Creek
Enjoy a thrilling, manageable descent through scenic farmland towards Cross Creek. A 2-km single-lane track leads you to the parking lot where you can choose to wait for the shuttle back or extend your adventure by cycling another 10 km to the cafes and pubs in Featherston.
Return to Wellington
If you choose to continue to Featherston, a later shuttle will bring you back to Wellington Port in comfort.
Return to cruise port
This cycling tour offers 3-4 hours of cycling through beautiful landscapes and historical landmarks, followed by a 1.5-hour shuttle ride back to Wellington.
