Day 1: Highlights of Jeju (L, D)
After pickup from the Jeju port, meet your private driver and guide who’ll take you to the Haenyeo Museum in Hado-ri. Learn about haenyeo (female divers who collect various shellfish and seaweed without any underwater equipment) and their lives from 3 well-presented exhibition halls. Then head to Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak (or Sunrise Peak), a dramatic volcanic cone formed about 5,000 years ago. With 99 rocky spires lining the crater, it looks like a crown from afar. While the north and southeast sides of Sunrise Peak are characterized by striking cliffs, the northwest slope is covered in green, especially yellow rapeseed flowers in spring.
Afterwards, visit Jeju Village Folk Museum to explore the history of the island dating back from the 1890s. Dotted with a total of 117 houses and facilities, the complex offers visitors chances to relive the authentic traditional lifestyle as well as discover the movie filming location for a popular Korean historical drama, Dae Jang Geum. Venture into Pyoseon Beach for mesmerizing views and relaxation. Enjoy freshly caught seafood for dinner before heading to your hotel for overnight accommodation.
Day 2: Jeongbang Falls – Jeju Stone Park – Yongduam Rock then departure (B, L)
After breakfast at the hotel, follow your guide to Jeongbang Falls in Seogwipo-si and be mesmerized by breathtaking views of water cascading down from mountain ranges cutting into the pool below. Then head to Jeju Stone Park where you’ll see various stone sculptures such as Grandmother Seolmundae, and replicas of the original 48 dolharubang (old grandfather stone statues seen throughout Jeju). Marvel at beautiful artworks inspired by Jeju’s nature at the Obaek Jang-goon Gallery before venturing into the underground to visit the Jeju Stone Museum.
Next up is Yongduam Rock (or Dragon Head Rock) where you can stroll along the coast, spotting rocks and watching airplanes soaring just a few hundred meters overhead. Complete the trip with return transport to the port in good time for your departure.
