FULL ITINERARY
Ship Arrival
Upon your ship’s arrival, your friendly guide and private driver will be waiting at the port to begin your journey into the cultural heart of Nagoya. Travel in comfort by private vehicle as you explore a blend of sacred heritage, samurai history, and traditional craftsmanship through our carefully designed Nagoya shore excursions.
Atsuta Jingu Shrine
Your first stop is the revered Atsuta Jingu Shrine, one of Japan’s most important Shinto shrines. Nestled within a peaceful wooded park in southern Nagoya, the shrine offers a calm retreat from the city’s lively atmosphere. Atsuta Jingu is famed for enshrining the sacred sword Kusanagi, one of Japan’s three imperial regalia, although it is never displayed publicly. After exploring the shrine grounds, you may also wish to sample Atsuta’s local kishimen noodles, a beloved Nagoya specialty.
Nagoya Castle
Continue to Nagoya Castle, one of Japan’s most celebrated castles and a lasting symbol of samurai-era power. The castle complex features impressive stone walls, defensive moats, and elegant corner turrets, while the modern museum inside showcases exhibitions detailing the castle’s fascinating history. During cherry blossom season, the surrounding park becomes one of Nagoya’s most scenic hanami spots. Inside the grounds, visitors can also discover displays of Edo-period firearms, illuminated lanterns, cultural performances, and seasonal festivities.
Arimatsu Historic District
Your final destination is the charming historic town of Arimatsu, renowned throughout Japan for its centuries-old tie-dyeing tradition known as Arimatsu Shibori. Stroll through the preserved streets lined with traditional buildings and discover beautifully handcrafted textiles made using time-honored techniques. From hand towels to lightweight kimono fabrics, many locally made products are available as elegant souvenirs and meaningful reminders of your visit.
After the tour, you’ll return comfortably to the port in time for your cruise departure. Thank you for traveling with Shore Excursions Asia!
